Firefighters responded promptly and managed to bring the blaze under control.
Hospital Director Diana al-Asmar told SANA that the fire started in a storage room containing medical supplies and documents for the nursing staff, SANA reported.
She added that there were no injuries, and the infant incubators were safely evacuated, sustaining no damage.
For his part, Saad al fatwa , Director of the Emergency Unit at the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, indicated that several cases of suffocation occurred due to inhalation of smoke from the fire.
These cases were treated immediately on-site, while some were transferred to other hospitals of al-Mujtahid and al-Muwasat, the report added.
